Makes about 4 Waffles
Sourdough starter discard | 2/3 cup |
Self rising flour | 1 1/3 cup |
Granulated sugar | 1/3 cup |
Salt | pinch |
Vanilla Extract | 1 teaspoon |
Milk | 1/2 cup |
Eggs | 2 |
Avocado oil | 1/4 cup |
I noticed that most sourdough waffles require an overnight ferment. I was absolutely offended by the amount of time required to make these recipes. So, I've done some experimenting with my own sourdough starter, and here is an excellent, no-wait waffle recipe so that you can get on with your day. Enjoy!
Method of prep:
Mix all dry ingredients together in a medium sized bowl. Next, mix all of your wet ingredients together. Now stir the wet into the dry. Allow waffle batter to sit for 10 minutes. Preheat a waffle maker. Spray waffle maker with cooking spray and spoon batter into it. I find using a portion scoop (ice cream disher) helps make even waffles. Once the waffles are cooked, enjoy with your favorite toppings!
